Assessment role
The real estate assessment roll is a summary of the inventory of buildings located in the territory of a municipality, assessed on the same basis and on the same date. In effect for three consecutive municipal fiscal years, it is mainly used to indicate the real value of these buildings for the purposes of municipal and school property taxes.
The information gathered during the visit to your property regarding the land and buildings is part of your assessment file. The addition or removal of any material or component of the building with or without a permit may result in a change in the value of your property’s roll (for example: garage, swimming pool, improvement of the basement, gallery or demolition), which may affect your tax bill. In addition, every nine years, a complete inventory of the municipality is carried out.
